Disclosed are a device and a method to detect emotional information based on a brain wave. The device to detect emotional information based on a brain wave includes an interface receiving an inputted type of emotional information, and determining a measurement protocol according to the inputted type; a measuring part measuring a brain signal generated from a human body based on the determined measurement protocol; and a preprocessing part storing a reaction state about content, related to the measurement protocol, in a database as the emotional information corresponding to the measured brain signal.
