摘要 A protein rehydration/recovery beverage composition is provided, including an aqueous component such as water, hydrolyzed protein, and sodium acid sulfate and at least one other edible acid. The hydrolyzed protein may be hydrolyzed whey and optionally hydrolyzed collagen. In addition, the beverage composition may include at least one carbohydrate, such as sucrose, and one or more non-nutritive sweeteners. A protein rehydration/recovery beverage composition is provided, including an aqueous component, hydrolyzed proteins and an acid blend. The acid blend contains a first acid component including at least one of phosphoric acid and citric acid, and a second acid component including at least one of tartaric acid, fumaric acid, malic acid, gluconic acid, ascorbic acid, and lactic acid. Also, a method for making a protein recovery beverage composition that has a pH of less than about 4.2. The rehydration/recovery beverage is stable and clean tasting, and has a low viscosity.

A beverage comprising: an aqueous component comprising water in an amount of from 80% to 99.9% by weight of the beverage; hydrolyzed protein in an amount of between 2% and 15% by weight of the beverage, the hydrolyzed protein comprising hydrolyzed whey; sodium acid sulfate, and acids consisting of at least two acids selected from the group consisting of citric acid, phosphoric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, fumaric acid and combinations thereof; wherein the beverage comprises a pH of between 3.6 and 4.1, exhibits a low viscosity of no more than 10 centipoises and a measured turbidity of value of between about 1 NTU and 3 NTU; and wherein the beverage exhibits a bitterness of less than about 3, a tartness of between about 2 and about 6, and an astringency of less than about 3, as determined by a sensory panel using a scale of 0 to 7, wherein 0 corresponds to no detection and wherein 7 corresponds to high detection; and wherein the low viscosity allows an individual to consume a sufficient amount of the beverage to achieve rehydration without experiencing the feeling of a full stomach.
