The present invention relates to a container (1) having a hollow shell defining a body with a dispensing aperture, and a bag (4) within the shell (2), the open end of the bag extending through the dispensing aperture and being secured with respect to the outside of the shell. The bag (4) is made from a material suitable for containing the intended contents of the container (1). Therefore the shell (2) may be formed from a material that would not be suitable for containing the intended contents of the container alone. The shell (2) may be formed from a biodegradable material, such as wood or paper pulp. The bag (4) may be separated from the main body of the container to allow for separate disposal. The container (1) may be sealed by providing a spout through which the contents of the container are to be dispensed, and by folding the spout over to create a nip which seals the container.

A container comprising a hollow shell, the hollow shell defining a container body of the container, the container including a dispensing aperture, and a bag or liner provided within the hollow shell, and being secured to the hollow shell at least about the dispensing aperture, the hollow shell formed from a recycled pulp and/or biodegradable pulp material and having an internal volume, the bag or liner having a portion provided within the hollow shell that has a maximum internal volume greater than the internal volume of the hollow shell such that a load of the bag or liner when filled is carried by the hollow shell, and wherein the hollow shell is formed as an open shell which is then folded to form the hollow shell or is formed from a number of separate parts which are joined together to form the hollow shell; and
wherein the hollow shell is arranged to be folded over to seal a dispensing aperture of the container, the dispensing aperture being defined within a neck of the container, a fold being foldable over the neck, the container further comprising: an adhesive tape, the adhesive tape being attached to an end of the neck.
