<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, and the like, operating on a characteristic of a set print medium, with a novel configuration enabling easy and accurate setup of a slipping amount of a print medium, reducing time and effort, and preventing a sheet from being wasted.SOLUTION: A printer, for use in printing on the basis of setup information in accordance with a print medium, includes: a transport part for transporting a print medium using a transport roller to a print position; a control part for controlling printing in accordance with the setup information; a marking part for adding a mark to the print medium; and a detection part for detecting the mark added to the print medium. Further, the control part performs: causing the transport part to transport the print medium; calculating a sliding amount of the print medium on the basis of a first transport amount calculated from a rotation speed of the transport roller in transporting a given print medium and a second transport amount that is an actual transport amount in the aforementioned transportation, by using timing at which the detection part detects the mark during the transportation; and setting the calculated sliding amount as setup information.</p> |
