<p>A dual polarised antenna comprises a feeding arrangement supporting a radiating arrangement above a reflective conductive plate. The radiating arrangement comprises two crossed dipoles with four outer conductors 9 12 formed in the shape of a circle or polygon and interconnecting the said dipole arms. Each of the dipole arms comprises two equal length V-shaped branch members 1, 2 which are connected to one another at the signal feed line connection points 17 to the said arm. The gap between the said arms and branch members increases as you move from the feed line connection points 17 - 20 towards the outer conductors 9 - 12. Each of the outer conductors 9 - 12 has a middle portion connecting branch members 1 - 8 of adjacent dipole arms and two end portions 1a 8a which are each located between the branch members of different adjacent dipole arms and form a capacitive coupling with the end portions of other adjacent outer conductors. The said end portions are separated from each other by a gap 13 - 16. The feed arrangement includes two feeding lines forming two perpendicular baluns. The antenna provides a compact, broad band, multiple resonant mode conductive pattern, which size and shape may be adapted for tuning and impedance matching and good isolation characteristics.</p> |
