PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor element and a gas sensor capable of increasing the water resistance of the gas sensor element.SOLUTION: In a gas sensor element 7, the thickness of a first protection layer 111 on a porous layer 77 is larger than the thickness of the first protection layer 111 in a rear end side. The thickness of a second protection layer 113 in the rear end side of the porous layer 77 is larger than the thickness of the second protection layer 113 on the porous layer 77. In other words, the thickness of the first protection layer 111 is thinner in the rear end side on the porous layer 77, and, on the contrary, the thickness of the second protection layer 113 is thicker than the rear end side on the porous layer 77. |
