A separable sliding claps fastener comprises a pair of rows of coupling elements 13, Fig. 2, terminal members 16, 17 each at the end of a row of coupling elements and capable of being releasably coupled with one another, a fastener slider 15 provided with side slot means and operable with the pair of rows of coupling elements, which when moved into its opening position, shown in dot-and-dash lines in Fig. 2, completely separates the pair of rows of coupling elements the terminal member 17 guiding the slider, and the terminal member 16 being detachable from the slider through its associated side slot means, the terminal members having mutual support means in the form of socket support means releasable in the direction away from the rows of coupling elements and pivotally guiding the terminal member 16 through the associated side slot means of the slider. As shown the terminal member 17, Fig. 3 comprises a support element 18, and a guide element 19 having a guide channel 29 for the edge of the slider. and being joined to the element 18 by a neck 27 which allows the element 19 to pivot clockwise when the slider is moved to its opening position. The element 18 has bifurcated flanges forming lugs 22 and sockets 23, and an extension 26 which prevents anticlockwise movement of the element 19. The terminal member 16, Fig. 5, has a thin edge portion 36 adapted to enter between the bifurcated flanges on the element 18, and protruding pins 37 which engage in the sockets 23. A projection 38 on the member 16 has a bearing surface 39 which contacts a surface 31 on the element 19, and its upper face is contoured to engage with the lowermost coupling element 13 adjacent the member 17. To couple the members 16 and 17 the slider 15 is put in its opening position. The pins 37 are engaged in the sockets 23 and the member 16 pivoted about the pins so that its edge portion 36 passes through the associated side slot of the slider. The slider is then raised to engage the two rows of coupling elements. |
