PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can contribute to reducing the time for changing a fixing set temperature of fixing means when predicting that smoothness of a recording material will be changed.SOLUTION: When empty sensors 16A, 16B, and 431 or drawing sensors 17A, and 17B detect the storage state of recording sheets S stored in a paper feeding cassette 11 and the like, a CPU 301 (control unit 75) records a detection value on the preceding recording sheet S detected by a detector 70 in a memory unit 302, then sequentially detects the smoothness of the subsequent recording sheets S, and accumulates the detection values in the memory unit 302 for storage; and determines a fixing set temperature of a fixing device 60 to subsequent recording sheets S according to the detected smoothness. When the sensors 16A, 16B, 431, 17A, and 17B detect a change in the storage state of the paper feeding cassette 11 and the like, the CPU 301 resets the detection values stored in the memory unit 302. |
