PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a segment coil capable of effectively preventing partial discharge with an adjacent coil, or the like, and capable of setting the thickness of an additional insulation layer suitably depending on the voltage difference with an adjacent segment coil, or the voltage difference between the segment coil and a facing core, while preventing positional deviation or falling off from occurring in the additional insulation layer.SOLUTION: In a segment coil formed of a rectangular wire having a rectangular cross section, and being attached to a slot provided in an annular core, an additional insulation layer is provided in a predetermined region of the coil wire constituted of strands and a base insulation layer covering the surface thereof, so as to surround the periphery of the coil wire. Coating amount of the additional insulation layer is different in an arbitrary direction of the coil wire, depending on at least one of the voltage difference between adjacent segment coils, and the voltage difference between the segment coil and a facing core. |
