PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of preventing the interruption of a printing operation, a printing control method, and a program.SOLUTION: The printer includes a setting part setting one of a plurality of recording media whose recording widths are different from each other, recording width determination means for determining the recording width of the recording medium set in the setting part, a storage part storing one of a plurality of fixing units having heaters whose heating widths are different from each other, heating width determination means for determining the heating width of the heater of the fixing unit stored in the storage part, and matching determination means for determining whether or not the heating width of the heater of the fixing unit stored in the storage part matches with the recording width of the recording medium set in the setting part.
