PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can improve detection accuracy.SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes a body casing 2 and a developing cartridge 15 that is attached or detached to/from the body casing 2. The developing cartridge 15 has a detection target part 87 and a first engagement part 86 and includes a rotating detection gear 72; the body casing 2 includes a detection mechanism 190 detecting the detection target part 87 and a second engagement part 180 engaged with the first engagement part 86. When the detection mechanism 190 detects the detection target part 87, the first engagement part 86 and second engagement part 180 are engaged with each other by the rotation of the detection gear 72. |
