A laser-operated light source comprises: a chamber which accommodates an ionizable gas; and an ignition source which ionizes the gas inside the chamber to generate a plasma. The light source comprises: a laser which inputs laser energy into the plasma to enable the plasma to emit useful light, which forms an output signal of the light source, under the impact of a laser beam, wherein a means for coupling the useful light into a transmitting optical fiber is provided. An optical system for imaging the plasma on the end of the optical fiber facing the optical system is disposed between the chamber and the transmitting optical fiber, and the optical system is calibrated to reduce a chromatic aberration. |
