PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of suppressing the adhesion of an evaporated metal to the inner face of a discharge vessel in a region in which heat convection of a light-emitting gas hardly occurs at normal lighting.SOLUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device 1 includes: a power feed unit 2 for supplying an AC current to a discharge lamp 10 having a pair of metal electrodes oppositely disposed inside the discharge vessel in which the light-emitting gas and a halogen gas are encapsulated; and a control unit 3 for controlling the AC current supplied from the power feed unit 2 to the discharge lamp 10. The power feed unit 2, after supplying to the discharge lamp 10 an AC current having the lowest frequency among the AC current supplied to the discharge lamp 10 when the control unit 3 receives a turn-off signal, suspends the supply of the AC current to the discharge lamp 10. |
