<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shim breaker which can break, certainly at an adequate length, swarf generated continuously during cutting by a tip with a more simple structure without breaking the swarf by contacting to a workpiece.SOLUTION: In a shim breaker, which is fitted to a tip 53 that is a cutting blade used for a lathe and breaks swarf WK generated continuously when cutting a workpiece W by the tip, the shim breaker 54 is fitted at a rake surface 53A of the tip 53, guide surfaces 54A, 54B are provided at the near side to the rake surface in the surface facing to the workpiece W, and a protruding part 54C is provided at the far side from the rake surface 53A. The guide surfaces 54A, 54B guide the swarf WK toward the protruding part 54C with prescribed inclination anglesθ1,θ2 against the rake surface 53A, and the protruding part 54C is formed so as to protrude as convex to the side facing the workpiece W against the guide surfaces.</p> |
