<p>Disclosed is a system for alerting a person or persons of a public transport vehicle hazard. The system is comprised of a location at which point the vehicle stops (‘boarding zone’); a location adjacent the boarding zone (‘hazard zone’) where the person or persons board the vehicle; a public transport vehicle; and at least one light mounted onto a surface proximate to or within the hazard zone. The light or lights are operatively connected to a sensor or sensors that detect the presence of the vehicle approaching the hazard zone. The sensor activates the lights when the vehicle approaches and/or enters the hazard zone thereby providing the person or persons with a visual warning of the approach of the vehicle. The light or lights may be activated when the vehicle is within between 0.5 and 100 metres of the hazard zone.</p> |
