The method involves controlling moving speed of an actuator at time of a movement phase of the actuator occurring between moments when the actuator is in neutral and beginning of a synchronization phase. Instruction speed is generated according to a performance index of a gear shift. An effort applied by the actuator during the synchronization phase is controlled. The moving speed of the actuator at the time of another movement phase of the actuator occurring between end of the synchronization phase and engagement of the shift is controlled. An independent claim is also included for a manually controlled dual-clutch transmission.
