The detecting of the match between the gaming accessory stimulation and the substitute accessory stimulation for the programmable layer is by way of a predetermined association of the stimulation with the substitute accessory stimulation recorded in a user profile associated with a user account. a controller; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the controller, facilitate performance of operations comprising:
identifying a programmable layer of a plurality of programmable layers of a gaming accessory;establishing communications with a computing device communicatively coupled to a gaming software application;establishing communications with the gaming accessory;receiving from the gaming accessory a gaming accessory stimulation;detecting, for the programmable layer, a match between the gaming accessory stimulation and a substitute accessory stimulation of the programmable layer by way of a predetermined association of the stimulation with the substitute accessory stimulation of the programmable layer, wherein the predetermined association is recorded in a user profile associated with a user account;retrieving the substitute accessory stimulation of the programmable layer; andtransmitting the substitute accessory stimulation of the programmable layer, to the gaming software application in place of the gaming accessory stimulation.
