In a pivoted mirror reflex photographic camera in which the mirror 21 is positioned for focusing when in the rest position (Fig. 1) and is returned to this position after an exposure is effected, the mirror is driven by a rotatable toothed disc 4 and a crank 5, the disc being freed through linkage 2, 19, 20, 3 for rotation by movement of an actuating member 1 from the position shown to a release position Fig. 2 (not shown). While the disc rotates through 180‹ the mirror is pivoted to its exposure position Fig. 3 (not shown) where it is held by a projection 18 of a lever 10 engaging the tooth of the disc 4, the disc having first rocked the lever 10 to displace a tail 11 co-operating with the camera shutter (not shown) so that when the disc engages the projection 18 the shutter is free to run down. The tail 11 then rocks the lever 10 anti-clockwise releasing the projection 18 and allowing the disc and mirror to return to the positions shown in Fig. 1. While the shutter is being reset, a lever 9 is pivoted out of engagement with a lever 8 Fig.3 (not shown) allowing the linkage 2, 19, 20, 3 to take up the positions of Fig. 1, when the operator releases the member 1.
