A power converter is provided with: a metal case; a power semiconductor module housed in the metal case, the power semiconductor module converting DC current to AC current; a capacitor module provided beside the power semiconductor module and housed in the metal case, said capacitor module smoothing the DC current supplied to the power semiconductor module; a substrate having mounted in a first area a drive circuit unit for driving the power semiconductor module, having mounted in a second area a control circuit unit for controlling the drive circuit unit, and being installed so as to cover the top surface of the metal case; a base plate opening into a space in which the second area of the substrate and the capacitor module are facing, the base plate being electrically connected to the metal case; and a first noise shielding member extending in a direction along the boundary between the first area and the second area of the substrate, shielding a space from the space in the case in which the power semiconductor module is installed, and being electrically connected to the metal case or to the ground of the control circuit unit.
