Disclosed herein is a valve assembly for a variable swash plate compressor. Since an opening hole of a suction reed is enlarged toward a suction port of a valve plate and refrigerant is also introduced into a cylinder bore through the opening hole when the suction port is opened, performance of a compressor may be enhanced by an increase in flow rate.

1. A valve assembly for a variable swash plate compressor, the valve assembly comprising:
a valve plate formed with a suction port and a discharge port; a suction reed plate installed on a first side surface of the valve plate and formed with a suction reed for opening and closing the suction port and an opening hole communicating with the discharge port; and a discharge reed plate installed on a second side surface of the valve plate and formed with an opening hole communicating with the suction port and a discharge reed for opening and closing the discharge port, wherein the opening hole of the suction reed plate extends radially inwardly to a position adjacent the suction port, and wherein a suction refrigerant flow is formed through the opening hole of the suction reed plate when the suction port is opened.
