976,069. Bearings. W. ANDRA, and L. WINTERGERST. July 1, 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 26042/63. Heading F2A. A rectilinear-motion bearing has one of the bearing faces formed of a plate 2 of polytetrafluoroethylene. The plate 2 is mounted in a steel base 1 which is spaced a distance S, from 0.5 to 3 mm., from the other bearing face 3 which has a coating 4 of chromium or polyamide. The plate 2 may comprise a plurality of discs or strips of P.T.F.E. secured in a steel plate. The slide bearing may be combined with a tiltable bearing comprising a layer of elastic material or a convex steel plate. A plastic or metal retaining flange may be disposed between the plate 2 and base 1 to prevent flow. The edges of the plate 2 may be bevelled. The supporting face of the base 1 may be roughened. A rubber layer may be disposed between the plate 2 and base 1. The plate 2 may comprise additives, e.g. 10 to 15% glass fibres, graphite or molybdenum sulphide. |
