PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide modified herpes simplex virus (HSV), use of modified HSV in oncolytic virotherapy, pharmaceutical preparations and methods for preparing modified HSV.SOLUTION: Provided is a modified HSV that comprises a glycoprotein envelope having a heterologous peptide ligand capable of binding to a certain receptor under specific conditions, which receptor is expressed by diseased cells but substantially not by non-diseased cells, where the glycoprotein envelop is modified so as to reduce capability of modified HSV of interacting with receptor nectin-1/HveC.
