The device for removing floating oil contamination from a water surface comprises a net (1 ) made of an oil-absorptive material, wherein the net (1 ) has internal threads (3) that define internal apertures (2) having a substantially square shape. The device is characterized by that the net (1 ) is formed of a plurality of cells (A, B) having a substantially square shape, said cells (A, B) having a frame (4) along their edges, said frame being made from the material of the net. Each of the cells (A, B) is provided with a reinforcement (20) along one of its center lines, which is parallel to one of the side pairs of the cell, said reinforcement also being made from the material of the net, wherein the central reinforcements (20) of the adjacent cells (A, B) are arranged orthogonally to each other, thereby the connected cells (A, B) can keep their shape and size against waving and wind. The cells (A, B) further comprise releasable connection elements on their edges to allow connection of the cells. |
