One example of the present disclosures is a management system for managing a computer system containing a plurality of monitoring subject devices. The management system holds plan execution effect rules, analysis rules, and configuration information of the computer system. The analysis rules associate causational events that can arise in the computer system to derived events that can arise due to the effect of the causational events, and defines the causational events and derived events using the types of components in the computer system. The plan execution effect rules indicate the component types and contents that are affected by a change in configuration of the computer system. The management system uses the plan execution effect rules and the configuration information to specify a first event that can occur when executing a first plan for changing the configuration of the computer system, and uses the analysis rules and the configuration information to specify the range of spread of the effect of the first event.
