摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel driving method for an electronic device, in which digital gradation and time gradation are combined and which secures a high duty ratio, can display an image (video) properly even when a sustain period is shorter than an address period, and is difficult to be affected by a dull signal waveform.SOLUTION: In a sub-frame period 102 having a sustain period 104 shorter than an address period 103, a clear period 105 is provided forcibly in a period after the end of the sustain period 104 and before the start of the address period 103 in the next sub-frame period. The length of the sustain period 104 is set independently of the length of the address period 103. Since this non-display period is set by changing the potential of a holding capacitor line, the influence due to a dull signal waveform is avoided differently from a method in which the non-display period is provided by changing the potential of a cathode wire.
