[Class 22] Hydraulic cement clinker is ground with the addition of, e.g. up to ¢ per cent. of a compound of the formula where R is a metal, hydrogen, or ammonium, or an organic radical, X is a group with replaceable hydrogen or a derivative thereof or a group without replaceable hydrogen and Y is hydrogen or a group with replaceable hydrogen or a first derivative thereof, together with, e.g. up to ¢ per cent. of a cement dispersing agent, e.g. a waste sulphite liquor residue, saponin, naphthalene- or other aromatic sulphonic acid or their derivatives or homologues. The substances are added to facilitate grinding, increase the compression strength of concrete made from the cement and reduce the tendency to " bleed " &c.
