The device has a housing that surrounds a receiving space (84) for a folded foil hose (86). A slot (56) extends from top to bottom in an inwardly folded-over tube section. The tube portion is arranged downstream to a transporting conveyor unit. A welding and separating unit is arranged below the conveying unit for welding the tube section along transverse seams and separating a lower end of the tube portion. A transport direction of the conveying unit is reversible for disconnecting a lower end of the tube portion.
