[Also in Division F4] In an interior lamp for vehicles, parts of the inner surface of a base of insulating material, e.g. plastics, have an electro-deposited layer of copper or other conducting material on them, forming at least part of the circuit or circuits to the lamp bulb. In one form, the base 12 is integral with a transparent or translucent cover for the bulb 21 and has spigots 15, 26 carrying contact strips 19, 25 forming supports for the bulb. Each spigot is surrounded by a deposited layer of copper which extends over the outer surface and to some distance into the interior. A further layer 29 extends from a spigot 13 similarly coated to terminate adjacent the layer 16, to which it can be connected by a sliding switch. The spigot 13 receives a screw which with a second screw 14 secures the lamp to the vehicle roof and which serves as an earth return. The spigot 15 receives a lead to a door-operated switch and the spigot 26 a lead to the electric supply. In a modification, one lamp support is connected to earth via a coated spigot and the other to a deposited strip associated with a sliding switch having two positions, in each of which contact is made to one of a pair of strips each having a coated spigot to receive an electric lead. |
