<p>An implantation assembly for a prosthetic ligament, for guiding the ligament to a required position in a bone tunnel, and for anchoring one end of the ligament. There is also disclosed a corresponding method. The implantation assembly 16 comprises a guide element 22 for a ligament 18, the guide element being movable between a pulling position in which a longitudinal axis of the guide element extends parallel to the pulling direction and an anchoring position in which the axis extends transversely of 10 the pulling direction; the guide element having a pulling aperture at the leading end and a manipulating aperture at the trailing end. A pulling element 24 comprising a pulling loop 26 is connected to the pulling aperture and a manipulating loop28 is attached to the manipulating aperture. The manipulating loop 28 is also attached to the pulling loop at an anchoring loop 54, which may be formed by two knots 48, 52. The manipulating loop is arranged such that pulling on the pulling loop does not create tension in the trailing manipulating loop, to avoid wedging the guide element in the bone tunnel.</p> |
