摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material that has a polycrystalline material formed of an aggregate of single-crystal particles, in particular, the polycrystalline material having each single-crystal particle of cubic crystal structure, and that includes an orientation polycrystalline material having uniform crystal orientation of each single-crystal particle.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the optical material includes: a preparing step of preparing a suspension (slurry 1) in which a raw powder is suspended in a solution, the raw powder including a single-crystal particle to which a rare earth element is added; a molding step of obtaining a mold from the suspension by performing the slip casting in a magnetic field; and a baking step of backing the mold to obtain the orientation polycrystalline material including a polycrystalline structure having a controlled crystal orientation.
