Prepn of 1,1'-peroxydicyclohexylamine fromcyclohexanone - hydrogen peroxide and ammonia

1:1'-Peroxydicyclohexylamine is produced in increased yields by reacting an anhydrous soln. of hydrogen peroxide in cyclohexanone and ammonia, without a catalyst, at temps. which at the start of the reaction are at least normal. - Liquid or gaseous NH3 may be used, and a soln. contg. 10-20% H2O2 in cyclohexanone is preferred. - Reaction temps. may reach 80 degrees C. - In an example, a reaction mixture contg. 85% 1:1'-peroxydicyclohexylamine (calc. on the amt. of H2O2) is obtained, which, after removal of excess NH3) may be used directly for the prepn. of caprolactam.
