[Also in Divisions F1 and F4] A heat-actuated pump, especially for corrosive gases, comprises a cylindrical casing 1 having a coaxial heating element 20 intermittently fed with electricity, whereby gas admitted to the casing through an inlet valve 18 is expanded during heating and passes at increased pressure through an outlet valve 14. The heating element 20 is surrounded by a coaxial water jacket having an external tube 22, provided with a helical fin 22a for assisting in the heat exchange with the gas. The water jacket comprises inner and outer annular passages 27, 29 connected together at their upper ends and respectively connected to an inlet 26 and an outlet 28.</p> |
