[Also in Division G1] Apparatus for measuring out quantities of building materials comprises an upright tower A which is provided with a peripheral wall and is partitioned internally into a plurality of separate compartments for the building materials, each compartment being supplied with material by a rake T mounted on the tower and provided with a discharge outlet D below which a common weigh hopper F is arranged. The discharge outlets D are provided with discharge doors E and the weigh hopper F which is operatively connected to electric load cells or a mechanical weighing mechanism is provided with a discharge door G which is opened to discharge weighed material to a conveyer J. The conveyer J which conveys material from inside the tower and through an aperture in the side of the tower may comprise a belt or a skip movable on a track. Radially extending walls M may be provided on the outside of the tower A in alignment with the compartment walls (C), (Fig. 2, not shown), within the tower A, the walls M forming bays in which material is stored. The rake T which is lined with manganese steel or other hard wearing material and mounted on a rotatably supported articulated arm R is arranged to urge the stored material in each bay to pass through an opening in the top of the compartment associated with that bay to await discharge to the weigh hopper F. The rake arm R may be provided with rams U 1 , U 2 hydraulically operated from a cab P from which feeding and discharge of material can be manually controlled and at which the weight of a load in the hopper F is indicated. The doors E may be automatically controlled to cut-off feed of materials to the hopper F when a predetermined weight of materials is in the hopper F.</p> |
