The present invention relates to distributing user credentials by distributed physical access control systems and, more specifically, to distributing user credentials by distributed systems. The method according to the present invention uses a user credential database (DB) (360), a first converted credential DB (356), and a second converted credential DB (358) in order to authenticate users accessing first and second services (332, 334) provided by an apparatus (115). The method can comprise a step of generating the first converted credential DB (356) and the second converted credential DB (358) based on the user credential DB (360); and comparing a credential received from the user with the first or second converted credential DBs (356, 358) in order to determine whether to permit the access to the first or second services (332, 334). The method can comprises a step of distributing the user credential DB to a plurality of different apparatuses (115, 210) connected to a network, such that the different apparatus can generate the converted credential DBs in order to authenticate the users accessing the services. |
