The invention comprises water-soluble monoazo dyes of formula A-N = N-B-SO2-NH-CO-NH2 wherein A is the residue of a hydroxy-substituted coupling component containing at least one water-solubilizing group and B is a benzene or naphthalene radical. The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized amino-phenyl- or -naphthyl-sulphonyl-urea with an appropriate coupling component, e.g. a sulphophenylpyrazolone, naphthol-sulphonic acid, acylamino-naphthol-sulphonic acid, hydroxy-naphthoic acid, salicylic acid or acetoacetylamino-benzene-sulphonic acid. The dyes may be used to colour cellulose fibres in yellow, orange, red or brown shades, the dyeings being thermofixed by heating at about 140 DEG to 160 DEG C. |
