557,919. Automatic regulators. STONE & CO., Ltd., J., and NIXON, L. R. June 8, 1942, No. 7796. [Class 38 (iv)] To facilitate resetting of a carbon-pile regulator a gauge pin or rod co-operates with an aperture arranged so that the normal working is not impeded. In the form of regulator shown in Fig. 2, where the pile c is adjustable by a screwed plug d' to position the armature a correctly in relation to the magnet pole b a rod l is attached to the armature and operates freely in an aperture in a screwed plug m which, in correct adjustment, is locked with its face flush with the end of the pin. In a regulator, with a clapper type armature a<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 5, an adjustable pin s<SP>2</SP> may co-operate with an aperture a<SP>5</SP> in an extension of the armature so as to have the flush relationship described ; or the pin may engage a light spring u normally in engagement at its free end with armature surface. According to the Provisional Specification, the pin may engage a lightly spring-loaded multiplying pointer the end of which normally touches the armature. Fig. 3a shows a transverse aperture a<SP>4</SP> in an extension of the armature which normally aligns with a spring retracted pin s which may have a tapered end; to test for wear of the pile the pin is normally urged into the aperture where it becomes wedged, if readjustment is necessary, until the correct adjustment of the pile has been made. Specification 548,388 is referred to. |
