<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phenoxy resin having excellent heat resistance, electrical insulating properties and transparency. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a phenoxy resin comprises reacting a phenol (A) at least composed of a specific fluorene (A1) containing a phenolic hydroxy group such as a 9,9-bis(alkyl-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene (e.g. 9,9-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)fluorene, 9,9-bis(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethylphenyl)fluorene etc.) with a difunctional epoxy compound (e.g. bisphenol type epoxy resin etc.).
