<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for solar cell sealing material, which contains an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer, a silane coupling agent and others, has excellent heat resistance, transparency, and flexibility, and also has a good balance between toughness and a cross-linking efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The resin composition for solar cell sealing material contains an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer component (A) having following characteristics (a1)-(a5), and a silane coupling agent component (B). In the characteristic (a1), density is 0.860-0.920 g/cm<SP>3</SP>. In the characteristic (a2), a ratio (Mz/Mn) of a z-average molecular weight (Mz) and a number-average molecular weight (Mn) obtained by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is 8.0 or less. In the characteristic (a3), melt viscosity at a shear rate 2.43×10 s<SP>-1</SP>measured at 100°C is 9.0×10<SP>4</SP>poise or less. In the characteristic (a4), melt viscosity at a shear rate 2.43×10<SP>2</SP>s<SP>-1</SP>measured at 100°C is 1.8×10<SP>4</SP>poise or less. In the characteristic (a5), the number of branches (N) by comonomer in the polymer satisfies a formula (a):N≥-0.67×E+53. In the formula (a), N is the number of branches per total carbon number 1,000 of a main chain and side chains measured by the NMR.
