[Also in Division B3] A tracer assembly for a copying machine tool comprises a feeler with freedom of movement in three co-ordinate planes and a control head providing lead, which is adjustable about the feeler axis between horizontal and vertical tracing positions. As shown, a feeler 1 is mounted by fork-levers 2, 3, 4 so that it is deflectable in three mutally perpendicular planes. The deflections of the feeler are transmitted by hydraulic control slides, not shown, to drive members for initiation of feed movements of the work carriages in dependence upon the magnitude and direction of the deflections of the feeler. The upper end of the feeler 1 is provided with bearings 5, 6 in which rotates a stud 7 formed integrally with a carrier 8 supporting a control head. The control head comprises a stationary member 10 pivotally mounted in the carrier 8 and a rotary member in the form of a frame 11 mounting rollers, such as 18, projecting into the bore of the member 10 to form an electrical switch. The frame 11 is rigidly mounted on a shaft 12 which is rotated in dependence on the switch actuation to the left or right hand through a reversing clutch 14 by a motor 13. The frame 11 mounts a biasing roller 15 which brings the block 10 into an eccentric position relative to the axis of shaft 12 and thereby the feeler 1 is brought into a lead position relative to the tool. Also mounted on the frame 11 are two support rollers equidistant from the roller 18. The roller 18 is connected to a slide ring 19 from which a contact 20 is connected to a control apparatus 21 for the motor 13. |
