The present invention relates to an electrolyte and a lithium secondary battery including the same. The electrolyte includes a mixture of a triazine-based compound of chemical formula 1 and metal salt of chelated orthoborate as an electrolyte additive, thereby improving battery properties of a lithium secondary battery, especially high voltage and high temperature performances, controlling gas production, and improving overcharge preventing properties.
