PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field light generating device of heat-assisted magnetic recording type capable of molding a near-field light generating element on a surface opposed to a medium of a light guide with ease and high accuracy, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A first light guide and a second light guide provided on an optical axis of the first light guide are provided. Next, at a boundary between the first light guide and the second light guide, in a cross section of the second light guide, a sacrificial layer is formed at an exposed portion other than a portion corresponding to a cross section of the first light guide, and the first light guide is removed using the sacrificial layer as a mask. Then, a metal film is formed at a portion of the sacrificial layer where the first light guide has been removed. Thus, the metal film is formed as a near-field light generating element on an optical axis of the second light guide. |
