In order to facilitate its removal from a wall a wallpaper has secured to the back thereof a relatively narrow longitudinally disposed strip of material of a tensile strength greater than the edge tear strength of the wallpaper. As described, a wallpaper which may have a substantially water-impermeable coating of e.g. synthetic resin or paint, or which may have a ground-coat and print which is impermeable to water, has applied to the back thereof one or more longitudinally extending strips of cellulose acetate, polyethylene terephthalate, a polycarbonate resin, or " Sellotape " (Registered Trade Mark). In addition, each longitudinal strip may be formed with a number of subsidiary strips extending transversely or at an acute angle with respect to the axis of the main strip. The strips may be secured to the wallpaper by pressure-sensitive adhesive and may be coloured. The wallpaper may be secured to the strip(s) by feeding them simultaneously to a take-up roll.</p> |
