The invention relates to a suction cleaning machine with a travel drive, the machine comprising a rubbish container holder for a rubbish container which is to be connected releasably to the suction cleaning machine and has a container interior, a rubbish container covering which has a suction opening and is intended for covering the rubbish container during operation, and a suction unit for generating negative pressure in the container interior in order to suck rubbish through the suction opening into the container interior and to deposit it there. In order to provide such a suction cleaning machine which is more user-friendly, it is proposed according to the invention that the rubbish container covering has an insertion opening for the insertion of rubbish and also a closure device with which the insertion opening can be opened up or can be closed by a user.
