[Class 70] Dental filling cements are reinforced by incorporating finely powdered metal, other than tin or metal alloy, not attacked by saliva or by any constituent of the cement. More than one metal &c. may be used and the addition may be made during or after the manufacture of the cement. Metals instanced are steel, stainless steel, iron, manganese, chromium, palladium, rhodium, gold and platinum. An example specifies a liquid-setting dental cement, the liquid component including phosphoric acid, zinc oxide, zinc phosphate and aluminium phosphate and the powdered component alumina felspar, fluor spar, quartz sand, and zinc and manganese oxides fused at 1,800‹C. ground and mixed with 1 per cent. of stainless steel powder. |
