1. A method for predicting the time at which a train will arrive at a level crossing, the method comprising the steps of:
a) providing at least two spaced apart acoustic transducers, each having an optical fiber proximate a train track, the optical fibers picking up acoustic signals; b) monitoring signals received from said transducers; c) identifying a signature associated with said train from said received signals; d) determining the speed of said train from analysis of said signatures; and e) estimating the arrival time of the train using the determined speed. |
