The present invention relates to a thermal surveillance camera system of a magnetic resonance image for a patient, which is capable of reducing various kinds of medical accidents and risks, stably obtaining a magnetic resonance image, and preventing the rapid generation of heat due to RF by detecting the body temperature of a patient by using a thermal surveillance camera in a magnetic resonance image imaging process, and a method for controlling the same. A thermal surveillance camera system of a magnetic resonance image for a patient according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a magnetic resonance image apparatus which generates a magnetic field in a magnetic inspection room and diagnoses a patient in the magnetic inspection room by using the magnetic field, camera parts, and a control part. The camera parts include a surveillance camera which monitors the condition of the patient by imaging the patient. When the body temperature of the patient detected by the thermal surveillance camera is higher than a predetermined reference temperature, the control part stops the operation of the magnetic resonance image apparatus. The reference temperature can be the normal body temperature of the patient detected by using the thermal surveillance camera before the diagnosis by the magnetic resonance image apparatus.
