PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve treated water quality by raising a nitrogen removal ratio while adequately controlling an amount of gas supply depending on a load of nitrogen-containing water which flows into a reactor, and supplying a proper amount of oxygen into the reactor.SOLUTION: Treatment water flowing through a reactor 2 is subjected to a biological treatment while aerating the treatment water by air diffusion parts 6a to 6d. Along flow of the treatment water in the reactor 2, an ammonia meter 11 is installed in the neighborhood of an inflow side. While measuring the concentration of ammonia, a nitric acid meter 7 is installed at a discharge side of an aerobic tank 2b at an intermediate position and a concentration of nitric acid is measured, and respective values of measurement are supplied to a controlling part 9. The controlling part 9 sets a range of concentration control for the nitric acid concentration based on the value of ammonia concentration measured by the ammonia meter 11 and, in order for the nitric acid concentration to stay in the range of concentration control, controls amounts of gas supply from the air diffusion parts 6a to 6d to treatment water either individually or collectively by means of gas supply amount controlling parts 10a to 10b.
