PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of efficiently cooling a polarization conversion element and a light-blocking part, in the operation of a light control device.SOLUTION: The projector includes a light source, a light control device 5 including light-blocking parts 5A and 5B blocking light emitted from the light source and adjusting an amount of passing light by the movement of the light-blocking parts 5A and 5B, a polarization conversion element 323 arranged on the light emission side of the light-blocking parts 5A and 5B and optically converting the incident light, a cooling fan 61 supplying cooling air, and a duct 8 guiding the cooling air supplied from the cooling fan 61 to the light-blocking parts 5A and 5B and the polarization conversion element 323. The duct 8 includes an outlet 812 from which the guided cooling air is blown out toward the light-blocking parts 5A and 5B and the polarization conversion element 323. The positions of the light-blocking parts 5A and 5B are changed so that an amount of covering the side of the light-blocking part 5A in the outlet 812 is increased as an amount of blocked light is decreased. |
