PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscous material coating method and a viscous material coating apparatus that can suppress variation of a coating amount caused by viscous material adhering to a nozzle.SOLUTION: Test coating of paste is executed at plural times according to a set coating condition, and the vicinity of a tip portion is imaged at a predetermined timing after a nozzle starts to ascend in each coating after the test coating. Subsequently, the amount of a paste portion adhering to the nozzle in each coating after the test coating is detected, and it is determined whether the difference between the maximum and minimum values of the adhering amount is not more than a threshold value. When the difference exceeds the threshold value, a position which is higher than a preset test coating position by only a predetermined amount is set as a new test coating position, and the test coating is executed again. On the other hand, when the difference is not more than the threshold value, the test coating position set at that time point is set as a descending position of the nozzle to be applied under a paste coating work for a board. |
