1,126,426. Socks. ALAMANCE INDUSTRIES Inc. 18 April, 1967 [18 April, 1966], No. 17831/67. Heading A3V. [Also in Division D1] A sock has the major portion of the leg knitted as a mock rib from two yarns in an alternating sequence one yarn being a stretch or inelastic yarn which is knitted in every wale in alternate courses and the other yarn being an elastic, e.g. spandex, yarn which is knitted in alternate wales and floated in the intervening wales on the intervening courses. In the calf portion of the sock, however, both yarns are knitted in every wale in an alternating course sequence so that the calf portion stretches more readily to a greater extent than the rest of the leg but, since there is a greater length of elastic yarn in the calf portion than in the rest of the leg the greater compressive force on the calf is about the same as that exerted on the rest of the leg. The top of the stocking may be a woven elastic band secured to the top of the leg or a normal knitted top.
|
